RWANDAN DOCTOR WINS WFSA RISING STAR AWARD 2024

05 March 2024 - A Rwandan anaesthesiologist was awarded the prestigious Rising Star Award 2024 by the World Federation Society of Anaesthesiologists (WFSA).

Dr. Eugene Tuyishime, Assistant Lecturer at the University of Rwanda and Obstetric Anaesthesia Fellow at Western University in Ontario, Canada, received the award during the 18th World Congress of Anaesthesiologists (WCA) held in Singapore.

The award recognises the achievements of trainees or new consultant (attending) anaesthesiologists who have shown exceptional promise and made a significant contribution to their hospitals and beyond.

The Rwandan delegation that attended the WCA, comprised five doctors led by Dr. Gaston Nyirigira, Consultant Anaesthesiologist and Pain Specialist at King Faisal Hospital. 

High Commissioner Jean de Dieu Uwihanganye received them for a discussion on potential collaboration with Singapore in the area of transfer of medical knowledge and technology.
