RWANDAN COMMUNITY IN NEW ZEALAND URGED TO PROTECT LEGACY OF NATIONAL HEROES

03 February 2024 – High Commissioner Jean de Dieu Uwihanganye joined the Rwandan community (RCA) and friends of Rwanda in Auckland, New Zealand at a ceremony to mark National Heroes Day.

In his remarks, High Commissioner Uwihanganye emphasized that they must jealously protect the gains that Rwanda has made in the last three decades and uphold the legacy of our national heroes.

He paid tribute to young Rwandans who took up arms to fight the injustice and the tyranny that reigned in Rwanda, three decades ago.

“They had the cards stacked against them, but their determination was unflinching. They put their lives in harm’s way to liberate our country. Their sacrifice secured the freedom we now enjoy” High Commission Uwihanganye noted.
