High Commissioner Jean de Dieu Uwihanganye presented his letters of credence to His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, as Rwanda’s High Commissioner to Brunei Darussalam with residence in Singapore.

The ceremony took place at Istana Nurul Iman, the official residence of the Sultan of Brunei Darussalam. His diplomatic accreditation formally established him as Rwanda’s inaugural High Commissioner to Brunei Darussalam.

The High Commissioner conveyed to His Majesty the Sultan warm greetings from H.E. President Paul Kagame and his desire to nurture bilateral ties between both countries.

During his visit to Brunei Darussalam, High Commissioner Uwihanganye met with Honourable Dato Seri Paduka Abdul Manaf, Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism, to discuss a potential bilateral partnership in tourism development.

The High Commissioner held meetings with more senior government officials from Brunei Darussalam to discuss bilateral cooperation in various sectors, such as real estate investment, agriculture, and finance.

Rwanda and Brunei Darussalam, both part of the Commonwealth, officially established their diplomatic relations in December 2020.
