HIGH COMMISSIONER UWIHANGANYE LEADS RWANDAN DELEGATES AT WTTC SUMMIT IN AUSTRALIA

At the 24th World Travel & Tourism Council Global Summit in Perth, Western Australia, High Commissioner Jean de Dieu Uwihanganye participated in the Global Leaders' Dialogue Western Australia, where government officials and industry leaders discussed strategies for achieving long-term sustainable growth in Travel and Tourism.

High Commissioner Uwihanganye led Rwanda’s delegation, which included delegates from the Rwanda Development Board and We Are Wilderness, a conservation and hospitality company representing the private sector.

Public-private partnerships, technology integration, and sustainable practices were highlighted as key to unlocking the sector's full potential.

On the sidelines of the Summit, High Commissioner Uwihanganye and the Rwandan delegation met with Virtuoso Travel Chief Executive Officer Matthew Upchurch and Executive Vice President David Kolner to explore tourism partnerships. 

They discussed sustainability and leveraging Virtuoso’s network of 20,000 travel advisors and 2,200 partners, including hotels and tour operators, to position Rwanda as a premier destination.

They also met with the Rwandan Community Abroad in Perth, Western Australia.

Their discussion centred on strategies to attract more visitors and investments to Rwanda, highlighting the vital role of the diaspora in promoting the country’s economic growth and development.
